Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village
The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is closely linked to the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car and the Sun Moon Lake. The park's aboriginal culture, European gardens, and top-rated recreational facilities are well known in Taiwan. Take a cable car to overlook Sun Moon Lake and enjoy the magnificent view.
Sun Moon Lake
The poetically lake is the most famous lake attraction in Taiwan. With over 100 square kilometers, the lake got its name because the northern part of it has the shape of the sun and the southern part of it has the shape of crescent moon (those two parts are separated by Lalu Island). “Autumn Moon Scene of the Sun Moon Lake” is considered as the most attractive 12 sights in Taiwan.
The exterior of the Kaohsiung Mosque is a typical Islamic style. The green square building has a round arch spire and a worship tower, and a spacious and bright worship hall inside.
Alishan Forest Recreation Area
Famous throughout the island and parts of Southeast Asia for its forest recreation. A leisurely half-day stroll along forested paths allows visitors to take in Alishan’s other attractions. The enchanting Sisters Ponds are two small pools (one with a wooden bridge and pavilion) named for two lovelorn aborigine sisters who drowned themselves there. Another attraction is the Three-Generation Trees – one growing out of another, and a third from the second.
Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
An impressive monument to a great Chinese leader. The majestic hall towers over 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds. A statue of late President Chiang looks out over the city from the main building. An elegant Ming-style arch at the main entrance is flanked by two classical-style buildings, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall. The square between the buildings is a popular gathering place during festive occasions.
